Troopers chase subject along Cape Cod Canal
A suspect who didn't want to pull over this morning led Massachusetts State Police troopers on a chase, including driving down railroad tracks and a bike path before abandoning his car and attempting to blend in with the crowd. From the press release:
The suspect vehicle, occupied only by a male driver wearing a baseball hat, reversed direction and drove back toward the Bourne Bridge, then crossed railroad tracks heading toward the Cape Cod Canal and then drove along the bike trail and service road that runs along the canal. At that point, D Headquarters terminated the pursuit due to the heavy use of the trails by pedestrians.
State Police cruisers blocked the entrances and exits to the trails and obtained descriptions of the suspect from witnesses. Bourne Police also responded to assist. The suspect’s car was soon located, disabled, in a parking area next to the canal. Troopers quickly located him sitting at a picnic bench, where he was arrested without incident.
A warrant check on the suspect, JAMES T. BLAKE, 25, of Whitman, revealed that he was subject of a default warrant for a case in which he is charged with aggravated assault and battery. BLAKE was charged on the warrant, and additionally charged with operating with a suspended license; reckless operation of a motor vehicle; failure to stop for police; speeding; marked lanes violation; and a state highway traffic violation.
