Double shooting in Salem, NH

Twitter reports indicate two people were shot and killed on Wheeler Ave in Salem, New Hampshire late this morning. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

UPDATE: The Eagle-Tribune reports three people are dead in what appears to be a murder/suicide.

Manchester Police find stolen, loaded gun in stroller with 2 year old

On Monday, a Manchester, NH officer spotted a man needing assistance near the intersection of Kelly and Rimmon Streets. The man reported that he tried to run away from a man who pointed a gun at him in a robbery attempt, but that the man chased him down and punched him. The victim's mother also approached police, and said that the same man had been brandishing the gun on Dubuque St. Police were able to identify the suspect as Jonathan Bijoel, a 28 year old Manchester resident.

Bijoel was spotted walking with his girlfriend, Cassandra Gagnon, and her two year old daughter on near Kelly and Rimmon a short time later. As officers approached the couple, Gagnon tried to walk away with the stroller. When police searched the stroller, they found a stolen 9mm pistol in the storage area under the child's seat.

Bijoel was arrested and faces charges of robbery, theft of a firearm, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Gagnon was also arrested and charged with falsifying physical evidence, and violating conditions of her bail.

Police helicopter over Lowell this morning

A State Police helicopter is working over Lowell this morning, searching for a suspect wanted in a car theft. Nursing homes in the area were instructed to go on lock-down, as police have reason to believe the suspect is armed.

Breaking - update: Subject was spotted in the Merrimac River under the Frost Rd bridge, after possibly jumping from the bridge. Several Fire Departments launched boats with police on board, and the man was taken into custody.







Pedestrian struck at Gallivan Blvd & Dorchester

Police are searching for a pickup truck that fled the scene after striking a man at Dorchester Ave and Gallivan Blvd just before 10:00 AM. The suspect's vehicle is described as a 1999 blue pick-up truck with Rhode Island license plate 39149. Witnesses described the driver as a black Hispanic male. The victim was not seriously injured.

Person shot in the head in Brockton

A medflight helicopter was requested after a person was shot in the head in the area of 10 West Chestnut Street around 1:00 AM in Brockton. The victim was transported by helicopter to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

UPDATE: Per Mark Parkinson, the victim was actually shot on Clinton Street, and walked to West Chestnut.

Fire in Hampton Beach Motel

Firefighters responded for a fire at Jonathan's Motel, 415 Ocean Blvd just after 9:00 this morning. The fire was confined to one room on the second floor of the motel, and was knocked down within 20 minutes.

3 alarm fire in Weare, New Hampshire

Fire broke out in the Weare Center store on South Stark Highway just after midnight on Tuesday and quickly grew to a 3rd alarm. Firefighters from multiple nearby towns have been called in to fight the blaze.

Multiple people shot on River Street in Haverhill

Fatal accident on Park Ave in Worcester

A bicyclist died after being struck by a car in the area of 585 Park Ave in Worcester at 1:30 Monday afternoon. The bicyclist, described only as a 48 year old Worcester man, sustained severe head injuries in the crash, and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified by police as Carl Rasmussen.

Ashland MA: Fire on Union St

Ashland firefighters are currently battling a two alarm fire at 358 Union Street. Firefighters could see fire showing from the building when they arrived on scene, and quickly announced a 2nd alarm. The fire is reported to be in a 1 1/2 story house. Updates will be posted as they become available.

Northborough, MA: Fire at Reliance Beer and Wine

A fire that started in an air conditioning unit at Reliance Beer and Wine on West Main Street has spread to the building itself. Firefighters are currently working to extinguish the fire.



Medflight called to Tiverton after boat falls on worker

Adam Hobgood reports a medflight helicopter was requested after a boat fell on a worker at the Standish Boatyard in Tiverton, Rhode Island. The helicopter landed at the Fort Barton School just after 5:00 PM and transported the worker to a Boston Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Small plane crashes in Block Island Sound

Gary Geoffroy of BrotherhoodImages.com reports that the pilot of a small plane towing a "Will You Marry Me" banner issued a mayday call before crashing into the waters of Block Island Sound just before 4:00 PM on Monday. A nearby boater saw the crash and radioed the co-ordinates of the downed plane to the Coast Guard. A Coast Guard boat was on patrol nearby, and reached the scene in 15 minutes. The pilot was pulled from the water and transported to Newport Hospital.

18-wheelers crash on I-495 in Marlborough

A multiple vehicle crash tied up traffic on I-495 southbound at the exit for I-290 early Monday afternoon. At least two semi-trucks, including one carrying Poland Springs bottled water were involved, along with four cars. Three lanes of traffic were blocked while state police and road crews attempted to clean up the mess. Traffic was reported to be backed up as far away as Bolton.

Milton, MA: Sovereign Bank robbed

Massachusetts State Police are reporting the Sovereign Bank at 561 Adams Street in Milton was robbed just before noon by a white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, aviator glasses, and a black Notre Dame baseball cap who then got into a small silver vehicle with a getaway driver and fled towards Boston.

Man arrested, charged with setting fire on board USS Miami

A 24 year old shipyard employee, Casey Fury, has been arrested and charged in connection with the fire in May that caused 400 million dollars of damage to the USS Miami at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. According to a complaint submitted by NCIS agents to the US District Court of Maine, Fury admitted to setting the fire after failing a lie detector test. Fury claimed he set the first fire because he wanted to go home, according to Federal agents. He had previously admitted to setting a second fire in the drydock weeks later because he was having trouble with his girlfriend and wanted to leave work early.

Maximum penalty for the two charges is life in prison plus cost to repair or replace damaged items, if people's lives were placed in jeopardy. If no lives in jeopardy, 25 years in prison plus repair/replacement costs.

Fury is scheduled for an initial appearance in US District Court in Portland, Maine at 3:45 PM on July 23rd.

Providence, RI: Two people shot on Harriet St

Police responded for two people shot in the area of 90 Harriet Street in Providence just after 1:00 AM Monday morning. Two shooting victims, both reported to be women, were located and taken by ambulance to the hospital. No suspect information is known at this time.

Salem, NH: Person seriously injured after crashing into tree

Mike Moura reports a person was trapped in their car and seriously injured after crashing into a tree on Millville Street. A medevac helicopter was requested, and transported the patient to a Boston hospital.

USCG helicopter launches to make rescues off Stamford, CT

A Coast Guard rescue helicopter was launched late Sunday night after a report of a capsized 22-foot boat off the coast near Stamford, Connecticut. Multiple people were reported to be in the water, and one person was trapped under the capsized vessel. Initial reports are that the boat crashed into the breakwater. Local fire department divers assisted the victims, along with a boat crew from Coast Guard Station Eatons Neck, NY.

JetBlue flight makes emergency landing at Logan Airport

Crash crews and fire apparatus were standing by on the runway at Boston Logan as JetBlue flight 462 from Southwest Florida International landed with a potential brake problem just before midnight Sunday night. The plane landed without incident, and these types of landings are actually fairly routine.

Car into a house on North Main in Randolph

Brian D'Amico reports there were only minor injuries after a car crashed into a house at 1348 N. Main at around 10:30 Sunday night.
