Motorcyclist killed in accident on Tobin Bridge

A motorcyclist was reportedly killed this evening in an accident on the Chelsea side of the ramp to the Tobin Bridge (Route 1 Northbound). The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike, and landed on 6th Street below the ramp. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

UPDATE: The Chelsea Police Department has issued a press release regarding the accident:

State Police Detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office along with the Chelsea Police are investigating an accident involving a motorcycle early Wednesday evening that left a 40 year old Chelsea resident dead. After receiving numerous 911 calls, Chelsea Police responded at 6:47 PM to the vicinity of 91 Sixth Street for a report of a motorcyclist that fell off the elevated section of Route 1 in the northbound direction. Upon arrival, officers were directed to a male victim lying in the street and a 2001 Triumph motorcycle nearby. The victim whose name is being withheld pending family notification was declared deceased at the scene. The investigation into the cause of the accident is on-going and is being led by the Massachusetts State Police.
UPDATE 08/08/2011: Massachusetts State Police have issued a press release identifying the driver as 40 year old Cory White, of Chelsea.
